Even for a big guy this is large enough (4X) to fit over your other layers.

It isn't so much the weight that bothers me at 17oz, but the packability. I like going oversized though. I have a 4oz wind shell, no hood, not waterproof, super packable. For a rain shell if I don't go with a poncho I try and find something as light as 8oz, not so much to save weight but for packability. 12oz can still be packable. At 17oz it would really need to perform well, be waterproof and breathable, and have all the features I want. Good price though. I have a few lightweight jackets in the closet I have been revisting this winter. Some of them are actually quite nice. 17oz isn't unreasonable, especially this time of year.

Hey, in a 4x maybe you can also use it as your tarp. lol

I have the women's extended size jacket. They did not have my size in pants, so I got the men's extended size. Except for the length of the pants, I am quite pleased with both. However, I can't speak to durability as I've only had these a couple of months.
