I'm about to head to the hills to kick off the fall hiking season:jump with a section hike south of Fontana, and am wondering if there's anywhere in Franklin, NC to park your car for a week. Safety from vandalism is a prime concern.

I would park (fee) at Rainbow Springs Campground.
I agree with Max patch. That way, you can walk to your car and skip the hitch into Franklin. But another question is: what shape is the trail in? The hurricane passed right over Franklin while it was still pretty potent.
