Why were you disappointed? Quality? Did they not hold up? Or were they just not as warm as they claimed?

Their ratings are WAY off.

Bummer. I need an inexpensive Summer bag that will do a little more on a cold night in high altitude. The Snugpak sounded great when I saw the price. Guess they're not worth it though. Thanks.

I would recommend checking Sierra Trading Post or REI outlet for deals. If you have a local outfitter check bargain bins and sales. I've heard of some GREAT deals especially when manufacturers change the colors on their line for the current year and REI wants to clear out the old colors.

I have Merlin Softie 3, I really like it. When I bought it about 5 years ago I could have sworn that it was rated for down to 27 farenheit, now the new verbiage i think claims higher, like 30, which is more accurate. I've never had to compress it, it packs small anyhow, and it has worked for me fine down to 30.

It does seems light and kinda flimsy at first, but it works.
