It's a dice game that is pretty easy to learn, and the whole thing fits in a tiny pouch.
Am I the only one here who has heard of it, and is it a good thing to bring on a thru-hike?

There shall be no fun and games on thru-hikes, as long as the rest of us have to work. :D

I read the rules on the official site, it's like a dice game we play called 10,000, except they use custom dice.

I don't know anything about it. I heard of it in Bill Irwin's book, I believe. He said some hikers were playing it in a shelter where he spent a night.

Assassin: world's coolest card game and perfect for large groups. We play it a couple times a year in my classroom and my students love it!

Holy cow! My father and I used to play this game on our trips. I forgot the name of it years ago. Thank you so much for posting this, I recognized the name immediately from your thread title.

My boyfriend has the game. I have never learned it. He's taught it to others and they love it. I think it would be worth bringing.

Cosmic Wimpout was popular on college campuses back in the late '70's. I think I may have a set stashed away somewhere. It would weigh next to nothing and would make a fine camp game.

My son and I bring a small collapsable Cribbage board and deck of cards when we go out together. It has raised quite a few questions among other shelter-dwellers... it always surprises me how many people are unfmiliar with the game.
