Looking to start a thru mid april. Would it be to cold to start with the 35 degree Caribou?
In 2006 i hiked with a Mont bell, 32 degree bag the whole way, Started April 6. Got a little cold up north near the end. may be use a bag liner??

At age 24 and being from Mass.
Probably ok.
How much do you weigh? (skinny guys like me need more warmth)
It'll be warm in the beginning but you can still hit some cold weather in the Smokies or at any elevation.
Just know the hot water bottle trick and be prepared to use it.

I wouldn't do it with less than a 20F for the first month. But if you're experienced at cold-weather travel, get weather forecasts as often as you can, and be ready to bail out if a winter storm is coming, you might be OK. Or if you're lucky and have a mild Spring. In April 2008 I had plenty of winter weather, blowing snow and temps in teens, in the high country (April 4 start). My excellent 15F bag kept me on the trail and out of the (crowded) towns.

yes. 20 degree until mid May
