At least there is a detour around this one. My first fear was a shutdown of the main thoroughfare, Hwy 441/Newfound Gap Rd.

Naw, this is on the road that goes from the Y to the Sugarlands.

yeah Rock, there is a detour, but I have never been down Wear valley into Metcalf Bottoms Campground so I don't know the conditions of this road.

that would be great. i cant stand that road anyways. never shoulda put a road bisecting the park

all the snow and wet weather is really taking a toll on our roads.Tell me about it. Michigan roads are practically undriveable.

I saw pics on the late news tonight. It did'nt look like it was too bad. Maybe it will be cleaned up soon.

I agree, this is (was) a great shortcut coming from Maryville to get to central park without going into tourist land (pigeon forge and gatlinburg). What was a short peaceful scenic cut-thru will now be a freeway with tourist....what a shame!
