I have been looking at new solar charged products and panels other than Bruton and went to a Green Convention this weekend.

I discovered Solar Goose, an inventor who has combined the best LI ion batteries, White or UV led's, solar panels and tough aluminum housings to offer UL products that are really cool.

I picked up an Adventure flashlight that has two brightnesses, and charges outside the backpack in everyday light.

There are many other products, but this one stood out, as you never have to change the batteries and it is lighter than the common led AAA ones that are available at hardwear stores.

We talked and I got a 10% discount code for his site for WB members.

190MS10 is the code.

I think its an ounce more, it was larger and had two high quality AA rechargables, guess I have to email for the weights,

did anyone buy from this guy? I picked up a great solar panel for my pack and adapted it to power the cell phone.

Hey check out the Mini solar light. It says it's one ounce. I wonder what the specifications are on these lights. As in how long do they illuminate versus how much charging time. I see that the starter light has some pretty potent Li-ion cells, reminds me of stuff we use for RC airplanes.
Cool Site! This is what i dig about White Blaze and all you cool people. :sun

I picked up the panel for $25 from a solar convention. Solar Goose has a lot of these panels they start out at 24 volts and the wires are put in Parallel making 12vdc, Para cord attachés to the pack and the covered battery holders are from Radio Shack. Diodes are attached to keep the trickle of power traveling in the right direction. All the black wires are connected in one connection (the white part in the picture) is a Dolphin Chicklet used to make connections in the shuttle and alarm systems. The Red wires individually get a standard diode with the bar towards the red battery wire. Because the 12v is small and feeding a 3 to 4.5 volt set of batteries, they absorb what they can, several tests in bright sunlight suggest the AA's can peak in 4-6 hours.

The panel and wires is just a few ounces because its all stripped down.

missed this post - batteries last 2 years +
The charge time is speculative but because its led the drain from usage is minimal, it would not go dead on a trip. I bought one.
