Please let me know of any problems/concerns/issues/opinions regarding this site. I have only thing... the dark font with the dark background is tough on the old eyes.. Not a big deal, but something to consider.

I love the site though, very well done. Getting into the pictures now...

I really enjoyed looking at your photos! "A picture is worth a thousand words". A journal can give someone an idea of what what to expect on a hike, but photos really seal the message. I will also read your journal.

Thanks MisterSweetie for the constructive criticism. You're not the first to comment on subject of dark background/small font. I'll probably have to do something about that.

Is it digital camera that you use? If so, what is the megapixel #?

It says on the site that the pics were taken with a disposable camera.

Almost all the pics were taken with disposable cameras. Some cameras and film were better than others. We used disposables for weight and battery issues. When the disposable was used up we shipped it home and bought a new one. A few of the pics were taken with a digital camera my wife brought when she visited and hiked with us - around Hot Springs and at the end. The quality difference is obvious.

milemonster, I perused all the pictures. They are great! I'm surprised such excellent pictures are from a disposable.

Looked at some other pictures too, like the Grand Canyon ones. Most excellent!

Most of the newer pictures I've posted are also from a disposable camera. They work quite well, especially if you go with 800 ASA film. That said, I'm anxiously awaiting the water-resistant, 4 ounce, 4 MP digicam with LCD preview, 256 MB card and 3X optical zoom that all runs on a widely available battery.

I like the graphs. Pretty neat. I would like to see more people do that. I think it shows the hike in a better prespective mile wize then just reading it.

Thanks for the pics and graphs, ... but I had to add my vote that the teeny-tiny fonts and also the black fonts on navy blue and grey background just don't do it for me.

I wondered why your pics took so long to download, given that they only display in about 640x480 or so pixel size. Until I saved one to disk and checked the file size. 267k!!! That's about ten times larger than it should be, unless it's going to be 1600x1200 or larger. You really, really need to edit your pic file sizes down to a reasonable file size. About 25k would be right.

Hope you appreciate constructive criticism! :)

Hey, nice site. I like the graphs. Interesting that you only accounted for your mileage up Katahdin, and not the mileage to get back to Katahdin Stream Campground. Hence, the last day is only listed as 5 miles. I assume you weren''t plucked off the mountain by helicopter. :D

I also found it instructive that you were able to reel off big mile days both before and after your rest days. Similarly, if you hiked a short day (<15 miles), you often have big mile days both before and affter. Personally, I found the town vortex to be tough to break, and often hung around til 10 or 11 AM before leaving. I guess that's on reason I took 5.5 months to your 120+ days. Another was my 25 or 26 rest days.

Again, great site!
