section hiking with a hip replacement

I have been section hiking the AT for several years now and have from Roan Mt to Hannover New hampshire done. This may i will be going in for a hip replacement. If all goes well we hope to back out next spring or fall. My question is which section should we tackle first the southern end or newhampshire?
Also is that too early of a target date to expect to hike. we know we have to take it easy and do low miles.
has any one done the trail or sectioned it with a replacement?

Let your Dr decide when it is safe to hike. Or better yet, get a sports related Dr who can get you hiking again.
No way would I do NH until you see how your hip goes.
