Oh my gosh, I've dropped out of the top 10 in posts!

Some of you guys have way too much time on your hands. Has anyone ever noticed that most posting gets done during business hours?

Okay, I'll just post a few to get my numbers up.

Wow, this is one smart bulletin board. You can't post the exact same message within a 5-minute window.

Okay, I'm now one post ahead of Yellow Jacket and back in the Top 10. Of course, this will probably only last for a day, since I don't tend to post the little snippets like L. Wolf (#3 with 1,274) and Blue Jay (#7 with 1,147)! :banana

Looks like Sgt. Rock posted the first message on 9-03-2002. I guess that's when Whiteblaze opened. Smokymtnsteve joined some months later but likes to run his yap more.

A purist would add Lone Wolf's postings to L. Wolf's posting. :)

How did you find out your standing? Is there a secret list that only hackers can access?
Go to the members list and sort on # of posts.

If I read that correctly, from 7am (ET) until 11pm the site is busy. Wow. That impressive.

attroll: What does weekend usage look like relative to business days? It seems like an amazing number of people post during the work week but things are pretty dead on the weekends.

The statistics for number of posts per day are averaged since the first day of membership. Some members who dwell under bridges come a-blazing with posts for a few weeks, then burn out. The prize for most posts during a 1-month period would probably go to JBL, eyehiker, Pencil Pusher or a couple of others who I forget right now.

maybe consider if you will possibly a venture but first a travel to your local backpack emporium, therein a purchase and maybe some boots and then put your snippets where they cant see these errant posts, someplace like a meandering trail leading north, leading south, but surely leading to a clearer mind :)
oh, got one in the closet? then maybe hit it with those pressure gas dust removing cans and get the dust off or let the rains of the appalachians clean it for you as you walk......

hmmmm, how many posts do i have?

Here are two more stats that show days of the week and days of the month. Now why would Wednesdays and Thursdays be so low? Do a lot of WhiteBlaze surfers travel mid-week?

For the mathmetician that resides in each of us, here is the top 10 with joining date and average posts per day (as of about ten minutes ago):

Smoky Mountain Steve.12-30-02...3.06
Sgt Rock........................9-03-02.....2.16
L Wolf...........................8-12-03...2.96
Chris.............................9-05-02....1.56
Peaks..........................9-04-02....1.52
Medicine Man.................9-30-02.....1.53
Blue Jay.....................12-25-02...1.72
Jack Tarlin...................10-11-02....1.24
Attroll.........................9-04-02....1.17
Kerosene......................9-30-02.....1.14

PS Maybe Wednesdays and Thursdays are when folks realize the work that really needs to get done before the end of the week and hence spend less time surfing WB during working hours?

Alligator

I think it's higher on M and T because people are busier over the weekend (and offline) and come in and check the site on those days. But the work needs to get done is a likely factor also.

I calculated the standard deviation for all posts on Thursday vs posts on the fourth Tuesday after Columbus day and it came to 42. Which is exactly the same number as the meaning of life.

This subject is far too important for that kind of Tomfoolery. Please subtract one message from Blue Jays total. That last one doesn't count.

You can't subtract for Tomfoolery. All you'd have left is 3 posts from Peaks.

Time to go super geek. My post average is around 4.2/day. I already figured if Steve and I kept our averages, it would take me approximately three years to become the top poster on this site. Even then I doubt that'll happen because I'll wind up doing exactly what Medicine Man mentioned... dusting off the cobwebs and [shock, horror] going offline for a bit. Besides, three years is a helluva long time...

I'm exploring the Healy Ak area, it's on the road system about 10 miles "north" of the Denali entrance, it's not a done deal yet but looking good.

yes there are telephone lines there, and a public library nearby with Public internet access. With the weather in the winter I may be online a lot!

btw Pencil pusher, last visit to Fairbanks I stayed in a Hostel, there were more women there than guys, the Registered Nurse Goddess from New Zealand rode with me from the Hostel in Fairbanks to Denali, she even bought me some Sourdough pancakes for lunch in Nenana.

ya know how I like pancakes! :D

We took our time stopping and investigating some side roads, we had a great trip.
