Not for me, but one of the guys I'm hiking with is a hammock guy. Planning to stop at Sassafras Gap shelter, but if the weather's good and if we're feeling it, might hike on up to Cheoah Bald and camp.

Saw plenty of trees up there during my section hike last summer. Since I'm not a hanger, can't vouch for their "hammockability". :)

It's a bald. Not hammock friendly by definition. :D

The surrounding woods would probably give you some opportunities.

You may not be able to hang right on the summit with a great view while you rock to sleep, but there are a lot of trees in the general area. you might have to hang 50-100 yds from the 'camp' spot in the picture.

Great place to camp. Open area for tents. No water, but trees very close to summit to hang from. Should be a great sunset / sunrise.

No problem, lots of trees, Cheoah is not a true bald, just a small clearing to your left as you head north

Trees aplenty and DO watch your water. There is none until Stecoah Gap and that is a sucky downhill of around 400 yards each way.

Be sure to water up at Sassafrass although I have been told there is a spring somewhere down mountian from the bald. i seem to remember a marker.
