Does anyone have a strong feeling on the best way to purify water when going an an extended trip, 8 days, and wanting to jettison weight?
Is there a light, effective filtering system that is recommended, are would you simply use iodine tablets?

Micro Pur tablets or AquaMira drops and a bandana.

Leave the filter at home and take AquaMira drops. Cheap and lightweight. Tasteless.

another cheap alternative is Polar pur. Iodine crystals in a glass bottle. I keep mine wrapped in a bandana and I've used the same bottle for over three years.

Aquamira - REI sells the 4 hr - better disolving than Wally World and tastes better.
