Hey guys;
Where do you all post your trail journals? I mean, is there a website where I can read some thru or section hiker logs?

Do you post while you're on the trail, or write them on paper, then transcribe or scan them when you get to a computer?

I realize that with a lot of the new phones, you can write an entire journal on it, but mine is too cumbersome for that. I figure I would take paper journal books and mail them back home as I fill them up.

Journaling has always been one of my favorite trail activities, but I've never published anything online.

Thanks

Arden

I combined several journal options and got good reviews from followers. The ones used were http://www.trailphone.com (http://www.trailphone.com/spokes) (written), http://trailphone.net (http://trailphone.net/hiker/14593/) (audio), and http://www.YouTube.com (video).

My experience was most people seemed to like the audio component for some reason.
Perhaps it was the novelty aspect (?).

I used blogger one year. The next I used trailjournals. I kept a paper journal and when I got to a trail town with internet access, I'd find a computer (coffeehouses, hotels, trail angel's houses) and write my online journal, mostly just from memory and not a direct transcription.

Listed the wrong link for trailjournals in the original post- it's corrected in the above quote box.

I might be using my Sony Clie (Palm OS), but its battery is dead (again, won't take a charge), and replacement is nearly $50! Can buy a lot of trail stuff for that much money.

I think what I will do (if and when I do a section of thru-hike) is to use a notebook, then write what I have written on paper into one of the online journal sites when I get to a library or other internet access.

Sometimes I enjoy re-writing (usually in MS Word) my paper journals months after the hike is done. It brings back the thoughts I had while on the trail, and often gives me a new perspective on the hike.
