Leaving next Friday to section hike from Deep Gap to Fontana. We are leaving one car at Deep Gap and the other at Fontana. Just wondering if it is going to be safe there.

Fontana Dam is one of the safest places on the trail that you could leave a car. No worries.

I agree with 10-K. Shouldn't have any problems.

Leave the car at the visitor center at the dam. There is a TVA security officer on duty that patrols the area pretty regularly. No issues reported at the dam.

If you are planning on staying nearby Fontana, either before or after tthe hike; perhaps give Jeff and Nancy at Hike Inn a call 828 479-3677 and stay there a night. Great folks, and I am sure they would let you leave a vehicle there. Ask Jeff to show you his collections of fossils and artifacs.

Absolutely! I've done it on a number of occasions, never a problem. Best place is to park down by the visitors center.
