I'm just curious to see how many of you hang your pack along with your food bag.

If there's a shelter I'll often hang my pack up in there (food bag up on bear cables or tree limb away from there.). If there is no shelter my pack goes at my feet in my tent - food bag still hung high elsewhere.

I don't hang anything. Never have, never will.

Yes, I usually hang both. I makes sense to me to get that stuff suspended away from the opportunistic little creatures in the woods. Never had a problem with anything bothering either my food bag or my pack, but you will hear from others who have.

I "hang" my pack on my crossed hiking poles so if it rains it wont get ground runoff and critters wont enter it. I lost a pair of boots to a porcupine once, won't happen again.

And my food bag is usually just in my pack.

I don't, but I do open all pockets before hitting the hay and hanging my food for the night and leave them open. I've heard that this keeps critters from chewing to get into your bag leaving a hole in a $300 piece of gear.

I have on occasion, where it was easy to do so. No special reason.

some times if its easy, just to keep it off the ground but mostly I don't bother hanging it

In tent with me or on mouse hangers at shelters.

1500 miles on the trail and I have hung my food bag about five times. In the Smokys and in the Shenandoahs. 90% of the time I keep it in my tent. The other few times in a shelter I hang it inside on a mouse hanger. Never had a problem.

'I don't hang anything. Never have, never will.'
I didn't either until I got into porcupine territory and then after seeing what to they to shelter floors with their teeth to get salt....then I started hanging my boots :)

If I'm in a tent, the pack goes into the tent with me. If I'm in hammock, I often hang the pack on a nearby tree, but by "hang" I mean either drape the haul loop over a branch stub or tie it to a tree trunk at a a convenient height for me to get stuff in and out of it.
