I was just wondering if anyone here has any recommendations on a good long-distance backpacking nutrition and food book. Like how to determine daily calorie intake, what foods to eat, etc. Would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I was just going through the ATC catalog last night. There are several books available that are probably right up your ally.

Here is a good basic book on nutrition, fun format. Why don't you start with that. You really just need to listen to what your body is telling you and do a little research online about how many calories you might need. If you read this book the rest of the information you need is on this website.

Increase your normal daily intake to account for your amount of exertion, stay within healthy guidelines, try to eat good foods...

I built a nutrition chart, but need to find out how to import it...

I like the idea of hiking with an aide-memoire, which is as notebook where you have made your own notes of various things for quick reference, and you can add to the notes as you hike. The idea is that you would make all your own notes before you go, which is also a good way to study, and condense alot of information from other sources.

Subjects can include:
1. Food/Calories/Nutrition
2. Field Hygeine/FirstAid
3. Field Crafts/Repairs
4. Natural Flora/Fauna/Geology
5. Historical Information
6. Personal Finances/Budget
7. Hand Drawn Sketches / Maps
