I plan to be in Eagle River, Wisconsin for 3 months this summer. Are their any open parts for the Ice Age Trail around Eagle River or maybe some other trail system near by? I've used Google a bit but really haven't found much information. Eagle River is in Oneida County I believe. Any help will be appreciated. And if you live in the area and want to do some one or two day hikes, I can help with gas and food as we venture to a trail head.

Have you posted on the Ice Age Trail forum on WB? Might get more responses there.

In answer to your question, the IANST does not go through Oneida County, but there are some nice long stretches of completed, approved trail in the two counties to the south, Lincoln and Langlade.

Eagle River's in Vilas Co. (county seat). You will be right next to the Nicolet National Forest. Give them a call and they will send you some free trail guides. Some of these would be suitable for extended hikes. In my opinion, the most beautiful part of the entire state. Trail info also available online, but a bit difficult to find and the paper version is better and more convenient.

Ice Age Trail closest segments would be in Langlade Co. and surrounding counties like Lincoln, Marathon, etc... Some cool places there too. If you need ideas let me know.

To the west you have the North Country Trail in Iron Co. and further west. I'm in the NCTA Heritage Chapter and we'd love to have you along for our spring hike in late April or a work weekend. If you want more info let me know or check us out on Facebook.

Didn't realize this was an old post resurrected due to spam. Hopefully this person gets kicked off.
