I'm looking long and hard at Henry Shires' Moment Single-Hoop Tent. The single hoop, to my thinking, is the maxmimally advantageous tent design. In the single-wall, single-hoop arena, The Moment's my favorite single-wall.

The Marmot Eos 1p is my favorite double-wall.

The thing is, I'd like a tent something close to my Alps Zephyr 1 (3'-8'' by 7'-2'') where there's an outside possibility of fitting two 20-inch sleeping pads into the floor of the tent. How would the Moment work out on this score as a single-person superlightweightweight tent that can every now and the be used as a portable home for a camping.

No, 2 20" pads would not fit in the moment. I think if you could open the entire netted door from one side to the other, like the Hilleberg Akto, you could fit one pad overlapping into the vestibule. But the way it stands, I just can't see it.

However, you could get two people in there if they slept on their sides.

Correct.
There is no need to guess, Tarptent has already done that for you.
If you look at the product page (http://www.tarptent.com/products.html (http://www.tarptent.com/products.html)) you will see that the solo shelters have a 1/1+ and 1/2 designation.
What that means is 1 : it is a solo shelter..
1+ : will fit a " still in love couple" or an adult and a child (2x adventure racers...)
1/2 : two 20" mats will fit comfortably inside.
The Scarp and Contrail are 1+ , the 2010 Rainbow is the first 1/2. See why here :

The 2010 Rainbow has me thinking about selling my Moment.
