You can search YouTube and find some good ideas. I like the Etowah 8x10 Tarp Set up

or you could sew-in "pole pockets" then add a carbon fiber or aluminum pole to made the tarp have a bow in it.

Here are two examples:

2QZQ says:
I recommend "Nanolites", Easton aluminum 7075 DAC poles available at www.questoutfitters.com (http://www.questoutfitters.com/tent_poles.htm#TENT%20POLES) or Carbon Fiber poles from www.Fibraplex.com (http://www.fibraplex.com/)

There are truly great lightweight tarps being made, today. I think the tarp cut and tie-outs makes a difference both in the pitch and the quality of pitch.

Some people are using a bit of lightweight "bungy" cord for their "tie-outs" for their silnylon tarps, to maintain a taut pitch.

I get my lightweight "bungy" cord from West Marine.
