Hi,

I'm going to be in south Florida (Boca Raton) for work next week, and I extended my trip over the weekend. Can I get some recommendations for a day hike (or two) on the Florida Trail near that area? I'm willing to drive up to a few hours.

Thanks!

If your up to the challenge especially this time of year, this is not to far outside Boca http://www.floridaadventuring.com/big-cypress-national-preserve.html

Whatever you decide:

- bring more water than you think that you'll drink
- have some electrolyte gel or equivalent to supplement lost fluids
- wear sunscreen and insect repellent
- start off slow to acclimate to the heat if you are not used to it.

Farther North, and not so long a drive, is the JW Corbett WMA which gets you right on the trail. Take it West. It won't be as wet as Big Cypress, but expect some crossings where the water may be just shy of your knees.

Have fun.
