This is a great place to stay. The phone number is (540)377-2119, the 800 number in the ATC book is for a phone sex hot line. Please do not delete this thread to protect the ATC.:D I've been a member since 1998 and will always be one. Everyone screws up sometimes.

Don't know about any phone number screw up (no pun intended), but yes, the Dutch Haus is an awesome place to stay.

I absolutely agree, it's a great place to stay.

Too bad about the phone number. Mistakes are inevitable when putting out a new edition every year for a small audience.

I hiked with a partner in '08 and we carried two different guide books for that reason. There was more than one mistake in each and it was often good to have a back-up. Not just phone numbers, either. My guidebook once said there was 3000'+ climb coming up, but it turned out to be a typo in the elevation column!

It was snowing like crazy when I hiked through this section.

Rather than walking all the way down the mountain to Dutch Haus (making a long uphill slog through the snow in the morning), I found a super place to pitch a tent just off the road. Right in the middle of a group of some type of evergreen trees that blocked the wind and snow..

One of the best nights I've spent on the trail ever, listening to the wind howl and watching it snow from the shelter of those trees... I'll never forget it.

Agreed. Best place on the whole AT, I think.

Lois and Earl provide a great stop along the trail.

Have never stayed there (for reasons that escape me) but have visited the house and met the proprietors.

What a beautiful place.

Don't know when I'll be near here again but I'd be crazy not not to stay.

The best part of staying at the Dutch Haus was lounging around in the thick terrycloth bathrobe (they provided) after a nice long hot shower............

Or perhaps the best part is the Sauna.
