For those who think they'll do the CT (or the CO portion of the CDT) in May..or even early June.

Today from ~9500'. :)

Winter hiking rules. Strap some snow shoes on the back of yer pack and get out there!

Started the CT in early June back in '01.
looked about like that picture.
I thought it was a great time to be up there but then, i like snow and was testing my GPS skills the old fashioned way (with rulers, templates, maps and lat/long coordinates)
Navigation would be easier with the GPS's of today.

Gotta love camping in snow though. (and postholing after 3 pm)

It ain't winter hiking...it is early Spring hiking...also among the worse times for avalanches in Colorado.

The snow sucks for snowshoeing and skiing (unless you start early in the AM) and not really conducive to multi-day hiking as well.

Why is everyone leaning north?

Maybe because the Mountain is sloping South??
