I know this is kinda odd being a backpacker forum, but do anyone of you have a recomendation for a family tent?
We are a family of 4 but have grandkids who mite want to camp some also. Not looking to spend a great amount of money but at the same time, want something reliable to withstand rain.
Wife and grandkids wouldn't like getting wet :(
I have been searching and there seems to be quite a few in the 6-9 person range that look decent.

thanks for any help

we just had a similar thread you may want to search for. we ended up picking up the coleman hooligan because it was only $80. i set it up in the yard to seam seal and was impressed. its a 4 person, but our family of 4 got lost in it. I think you could easily get a family of 5 in there. we'll let you know how it goes when we take it out for the first time here in a couple weeks.

Eureka has quite a few nice models as well. I like my Equinox 6 very much. I would be wary of the cheapest tents, at least for longevity.

I ordered a Coleman Montana 8 tonite off of ebay for 126, that includes shipping/tax. Figured that wasn't to bad, if I made a bad choice.

Eureka Timberline 6 Outfitter. A bit spendy, but bombproof.

two smaller tents will be more comfortable for all concerned than one large one...
