question - Footprint for Half Dome 2

I just got a REI halfdome 2 for the dog to come hiking with me....

Two REI employees told me the exact opposite on the footprint......one said "shiny side down" and the other said "shiny side up".

The info sheet says "coated side up", but I do not know if the shiny side is coated or the unshiny side is......any one know about this ???

Shiny side up. You want to protect the PU coating. Putting it down means it will become more abraded more quickly and end up allowing water to pass through or be sucked up by a vacuum created when you move around..
