A recent post about the AT museum said that Grandma Gatewood is planning to attend. If I'm thinking of the same person, (the one who wore a gunny sack and hiked in tennis shoes) she would be in her 80s or 90s today. Is it the same person or are I thinking of someone else?:-?

I'm pretty sure Grandma gatewood has gone on the longest, ultimate hike.
I believe I read somewhere that it's her grand-daughter attending the opening.
But I could be wrong about everything.:-?

It's Grandma's youngest daughter and last surviving child, Lucy Seeds of Florida, who will be attending at age 81.

Pg 19 of the current AT Journeys - article titled Grand Opening of the AT Museum says Grandma Gatewood's daughter - Lucy Seeds will attend.

Grandma Gatewood was born on October 25, 1887 (and, as was noted above, died on–June 4, 1973). She would be nearly 123 years old if she was still alive.

Lucy is not the last surviving child of Grandma Gatewood, but she is the youngest, Rowena, Nelson and Louise are still living, Rowena being the oldest still living and will be 97 in April.

It's nice to have good genes :). Long live the daughters of "Grandma Gatewood".
