And who does shuttles in the area? Thinking about going from Wolfsville Rd SOBO to Harpers Ferry. I'd park in HF, shuttle to Free State Hiker Hostel and hike back to HF.

You can also park at the Harper's Ferry MARC station which is a north west of the trail. If you zoom into the interactive map, you can see the station is a little less than 500 ft away from the trail.

I used to take the MARC to work and would sometime be parked at a station for weeks and I never had any issues.

I've also talked to a few section hikers that will take a train or a flight into DC and take the MARC to Harper's Ferry.

The train station in Harpers Ferry is under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service (NPS). Ownership of the station and parking lot was transferred by the Maryland Transit Authority to the NPS around 2001. Anyone planning on parking at the train station lot is responsible for paying a user fee of $6 which is good for three days. NPS rangers are always checking on the weekends and holidays at the station lot for the purchase receipt on the dashboard of the vehicle. Rangers encourage that vehicles parked on a long term basis within the National Park use the main parking lot at the Cavalier Heights Visitor Center. The use of this lot is a one time fee of $6 for up to two weeks. I personally own an Harpers Ferry Annual Park Pass and can park free at either location but prefer the spacious lot at the Visitor Center.

I just did the Maryland section a few weeks ago. I hired Lee Baighley from River and Trail outfitters. He charged $80 to PenMar Rd just north of PenMar park. He arrived on time and gave me a lot of valuable information on the section. I parked at the Harpers Ferry visitor center, it cost $6. They were nice, told me where to park. It was a safe place. Only negative is that its 2 1/2 miles up hill from town to get there if I wanted to get to my truck when the shuttle wasn't running, add to that the lot is also locked between certain times. In retrospect I'm glad I went South and started with an easy day. That hill out of Harpers Ferry going northband did not look like to much fun.....it was alot easier going down it...
