Hey guys, in two weeks I have three days off and am thinking of doing the Pemigewasset Loop. I have really wanted to see Franconia Ridge and a loop would really work best for me. Its about 30-35 miles so that's perfect.

Has anyone here done this loop before? Thoughts? Comments?

We took our scouts there last year. It's fun. Go for it.

We did a modified version, mostly to make it easier on the adults as it was their first backpacking trip away from the 'rugged' hills on the AT in Northern CT and Southern Mass.

Day 1: Lincoln Woods Visitor Center to Franconia Brook Trail to 13 Falls Tentsite

Day 2: Twin Brook Trail to Gale Head to AT to Garfield Ridge/Pond Campsite

Day 3: AT to Liberty Spring Tentsite

Day 4: Osseo Trail to Lincoln Woods Visitor Center and out

Mags,
Thanks VERY much for posting that link. I'm planning a Pemi Loop trip later this year, and just started my initial planning. That link is great.

You may also want to check out the forum Views from the Top (http://www.viewsfromthetop.com/forums/) - there are a lot of folks there who have done the loop, many as a long day hike. In fact, one member did a double loop last year in a VERY long day.

VFTT requires sponsorship to be a member, but you can still browse and read without joining. If you're interested in joining, send me a PM.

A current thread on Views says the top time is about seven and half hours!!! No time for smelling the roses at that rate!
