Ive been told I sort of look like #7, , , , but am rapidly approaching being 1/2 of #8.

Have met #5, & they did not mean to make me fell less than a hiker, but they passed me so quickly on an up hill, I barely had time to say "Hi" & they were gone. They didn't even have the decency of acting like they were breathing hard. :p

I'm still closer to #5 than #8, but it would be interesting to hear what #3's think.

Awesome, they left out the police woman who's working out because she has issues with her police officer husband.

It is great fun to pass those youngsters on the trail.

:-? Can I create a #12 ? I am none of the above.
I am neither a #5 or a #9 . I am in good shape but hike at a leisurely pace . I pass more hikers on steep ups than flat ground.

My modus operandi is to enjoy the little things that can be missed by those #5 types that have deadlines and destinations to meet.

On the humorous side , I can see myself in 20 years being a camera toting plaid shirt wearing #8. :D

As my buddy just reminded me, you can add two more to the list:

12. The retiree
13. The couple in the tent making noises

For some strange reason I seem to fit into many of these categories. I am going to have to work on that...

The part is is how close to reality those 11 (or 13) people are to EVERYONE you meet on the trail:-?

That's me.

Sidenote: went TDY to Norway in Jan. Norwegians told me of a mountain with a weather station on top that was good to climb, as it had a two track up the side. I was good: had the clothing and a small backpack. I started about 3:30 P.M. The road had about 3 inches of frozen snow on it. By 5:00, it was getting dark and I was tired and only about half way up. I stopped on a guardrail to check out the scenery and heard a "crunch-crunch-crunch" coming up the road. I look back and an old <OLD! 847 years at LEAST!> guy coming up the road, stepping as regular as a metronome. He saw me, asked me something and when I said I only spoke English, he stated: "Ah, American! You go to top?" What could I do, but follow him up. He beat me to the top by at least half an hour. I wandered around the top, took some great pictures of the surrounding country by full moon and started back. I saw the guy's tracks and realized: HE WAS RUNNING BACK DOWN THE MOUNTAIN! I wanna know where HE is in the list and I hope someday I'll be like him!
