Anyone thru-hiked the Maah Daah Hey Trail? If so, what time of year?

Well this may not be much help, but I was researching TR NP in North Dakota, and from what I've found, there is no water available in the backcountry, except for one major (probably polluted) river that is really silty.
I think a lot of people bike this trail rather than hike it.
I know that Andrew Skurka did this trail as part of his Sea to Sea route. But he hikes like 50 miles a day.
