The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is updating and upgrading its website's information on section hiking. As a result, we are seeking input from hikers on what they think are the best section hiking journals and websites. If you have a favorite section hiking journal or website that you have found useful please post a link or email me at [email protected].

Thanks for your input!

I have never seen one other than somebody who maintains something in Trail Journals over multiple years.

Perhaps the ATC can develop something that has the current mile markers built into it where a hiker could drag and drop locations and then add commentary, photos, etc.

Matt, this website is my "go-to" place for in-depth info on section hiking. It's a tremedous resource that I wish I'd found years before I did.

For Shenandoah National Park and beyond, north or south, lots of info and links at: www.MVshuttle.com (http://www.MVshuttle.com). It describes shuttle possibilities, then goes on to educate about the trail, SNP, parking, campsites, and some of the resupply or lodging opportunities in or near the Park.

www.patc.net (http://www.patc.net) is from the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club.

www.HikeLodge2Lodge.com (http://www.HikeLodge2Lodge.com) describes another way to do part of the AT in our region.

Thanks again everyone. Your suggestions and passionate support of WhiteBlaze will help us to point potential section-hikers towards valuable additional resources when they visit our website.

Matt,

Not sure that my trail journals would serve as a useful resource, but they might show what it's like to hike various sections of the AT in different seasons, as well as what it takes to be able to effectively section hike over decades and how the AT has changed over time. Certainly others write better journals, but some people seem to like to read mine.
