I just picked up a bag of the cheese tortellini at our local TJ's to pair up with my first attempt at dehydrating some pasta sauce.

Before I get started, I was wondering what ratio of water to pasta and sauce powder do you use?

I figure I'll tweak it to my tastes, but starting with a general idea of the amounts will help eliminate a round or 2 of trial-n-error.

Thanks.

Greg

make your best guess and if it comes out a little soupy just add some instant potatoes to suck up the excess water

I've used the Barilla (sp?) tortellini and have just covered the tortellini with water. There wasn't much left to make it soupy. Experiment at home - makes doing it on the trail easier :)

Just enough water to cover the pasta. Works for any kind, not just tortellini

I could never get the tortellini to work. Maybe my water wasn't hot enough.

Barrilla tortellini cooks much more quickly than Trader Joe's. In fact, I've never gotten Trader Joe's tortellini to cook well enough to be considered done using FBC--it always comes out a bit crunchy. I'd suggest getting the Barrilla stuff instead if you can--it's more expensive but it's very tasty and cooks well using FBC.
