Amazing view. You can see Katahdin and Washington a clear day.

Can someone give me the GPS coordinates or the link to this summit shack on Live Maps or Google Maps? Please!!

The summit is at http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&q=45.031691,-70.313623
... so the shack has to be near there. The AT passes about 500' below the summit and there is an approach trail at NOBO 1980.7 / SOBO 198.4 - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&q=45.0269282,-70.3209160

It was off closed and off limits to hikers last summer due to hikers trashing the place.

Has it reopened to hikers? I really enjoyed staying there in '05 (http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=114825) - a nice respite from a strong storm.

The 2010 Companion shows it as "closed to hikers". I assume that means for overnight use.

It would be good to know if the blue blaze trail is still open to the summit.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for!

Well if it is closed that's a shame. We caught it just right in late June on a crystal clear afternoon. We could see both Katahdin and Washington and to this day, the most dense clusters of stars at night I've ever seen.

The summit shack was closed last year as well.

The blue blazed trail was open and clear.

Does anybody have any info about Sugarloaf north of Devil's Fork Gap in NC/TN? The guide says there is a trail up there. Is it long? Is it worth it? Can you camp up there?

Thanks.
