Heater Meals info

I'm looking to see if anyone has tried a product called "Heater Meals". It is advertised as the self heating meal. I found some here in a grocery store here in FL and it appears to be something for a hurricane ready box. Heavy at one pound, it has a 12 oz entre with heater pouch, a water activator pouch, seasoning and meal set ups. For the trail it might be a first night out meal or something I'd put in a suppply box for a treat, but not something to lug for days on end. Wondering about taste, prep, and appeal? The BBQ sauce and beef has good protein, carbs and fiber numbers but loaded with sugar and sodium.

I think they are great, but as you put it heavy. Great for fall trips when somthing hot is needed when not traveling with a stove. Sodium levels are yuch, but tastes great. Recently they exstended the shelf life up to five years.

We used to stock our command center with Heater Meals. They tasted great and heated up well. Nobody ever complained and believe me the crowd that was eating them wouldn't mince words if they were bad.

I agree with you about these being a "first night treat" or a fun find in a hiker box but I wouldn't want to carry them otherwise.

After eating them for 2 days after Katrina, it was like Heaven when we finally were given MRE's so heatermeals in my opinion stink lol just a little bias
