Amazon has it for $10.77 with free super saver shipping on orders over $25. Does anyone know if that is a good price?

I use it. I bought a bottle in Hot Springs on my thru in 2000. It has gone from Hot Springs to Katahdin, and then from Springer to almost Bland this year. Still going...

IMO it tastes nasty. It seems sad to take lovely spring water and gunk it up with something awful-tasting.

Yes I carry it as a backup. Personally I don't think it tastes that bad. Has sort of a clorox taste to it but easy to get over. Never been sick from it or from the water so I assume it works. It's very affordable. Just take care of the glass bottle and it'll last and last and last.

I have some. Bought it when I first started hiking last year, but then got my Hiker Pro filter before the chance to use it so I brought it as backup for the filter. Now I use Aqua Mira drops and leave the filter and the Polar Pure at home. No bad taste and light.

Purchased a bottle at Neel Gap... used it maybe until Franklin... Became extremely ill near Roan Mountain... started using Polar Pure again unless the water was "beautiful"

In the old days, folks masked the iodine taste with lemonade mix. Based on using iodine tablets, you might find that adding some Propel powder will precipitate out the iodine and provide a better tasting drink.

One of the keys to using Polar Pure is to refill the jar with water immediately after use to build your next charge of super-saturated iodine solution. In cold weather you also should warm the iodine solution with body heat.

Just be careful not to lose the iodine crystal inside. The screens sometimes come loose. Not a good thing to swallow.

Used to use it after I graduated from iodine tablets. Now I use a filter, as I find it to be a lot less hassle than chemically treating my water.

Keep in mind it will freeze and break the bottle in your pack. Store it double bagged.
