The old '89 S-10 gray Chevy Blazer will be making at least one more trip to NC/TN next week. My son and his girlfriend and I will be tooling along the AT so if you see us say hi or whatever.

Ahh, Snowbird. That was a killer climb.

I thought that was Snowbird. Southbound is just as bad, and it was torrential downpours and freezing cold. Got to the top pretty close to hypothermic. Don't ask me how I know this, but it's possible to get somewhat out of the rain up there on top to change into dry clothes and not, er, die.

GB, your photo make the place look a lot more fun.

I've driven up Snowbird and walked up it. Walking is a lot safer.

When the gray Blazer finally falls apart, I'll have to change my handle to White Honda.

Have a great hike, bro.

(Guess I'll just stay here in altitudinally challenged FLA and sweat.) ;)

Bump on the springs.

How's the water between Hot Springs and Erwin?

The Beast made it up Snowbird another time. That road is a steep washed out beotch.

Another pic from NC/TN tour. Rained like he!! a coupla times. Backpacked a measly 42 miles. Weather turned cool the last coupla days. Sunset from B.S. is always awesome, especially when you can see Big Bald and Camp Creek.

Ah, the Snowbird VOR, I've navigated to it and flown over it in a small plane a few times, but never been to it by ground... yet.

Isn't that a 2 wheel drive Blazer? that made it up the washed out road?

Nice photos, GB! I appreciate hiking vicariously through you. Unfortunatley, my long planned hike has been postponed again, this time due to yesterday's repair of a hernia I didn't know I had. (grumble, grouse, whine) Glad the old Blazer made it yet another trip.

Yeah, two wheel drive. To make it up that road you need a lot of power, speed and guts.

We also visited the Hemlock Hollow place and ate at the cafe on the way up and down Camp Creek. Great place to stop off the AT for some hot food and a little resupply.

Don't worry, hang in there until Jan and we'll have another Big Foot Vigil. I think Rocket wants to have it on the Suwanee somewhere.

Hey GB, are you going to the CHS Reunion in October? My sweetie has already decided we will be there, if you want to get together for a drink I'll be at the Sheraton Tiki Bar Friday night at sunset, then at the Palm Sunday.

Is it a general reunion for all CHS grads? Sounds like fun. Clearwater Beach sure has changed since 72.
