View Full Version : Favorite photo on WB? (and why)
This thread is bound to change quite a bit as photos get added to the gallery. Personally, I like the sunset and sunrise photos and photos of fellow hikers. Is there one which struck you as exceptional?
I think this is the best one I've submitted so far:

The photos of thru-hikers seem to be the most popular. Especially the female ones for some reason.

Here's my vote for a favorite sunset pic: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=41674
However, I tend to lean more toward the "sea of clouds" shots: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=26739
Then there are a handful of shots that I've taken over the years that are especially evocative of my personal experiences, such as this one which I use as my PC wallpaper: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=13119

I'm not sure if I can find it again, but someone posted a distant shot of a hiker walking through foggy woods--I think the hiker is facing away from the camera, so it's a generic hiker shot. It's a lovely photo.
The pretty reflection on the lake in the background?Damn, I had to look again. Totally missed the lake!

Folks this is a great idea for a thread and I'm really enjoying it but it's a pain when only a link is posted instead of a thumbnail; So...
It's easy to do. When you find a photo you want to post, just scroll down to the "BB image code" below the WB photo, copy the entire line, and paste it in your reply.
Example:
http://whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/files/1/1/0/8/1/roan_high_knob_06_10_07_002_thumb.jpg (http://whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=22580&c=)
The full version can be viewed by clicking on the thumbnail.

Probably not the one you mean, but this is a hiker walking away into the foggy woods.
And, THANKS to Skidsteer for the hint on how to post a thumbnail of an existing WB photo. I never knew that!

While you guys are busy playing with your thumbs, those of us who choose not to "show images" in posts are shown the links to your tiny thumbs. Of course, clicking on those links show the thumb with no link to the original photo. A simple link to a photo was perfectly okay until someone decided to whine.

Kerosine and Old Phart have 2 of the best photo galleries on WB and there are many others.
I like pics of the AT in the distance taken from the summit of a peak on the AT.
This may not be one of my clearest, but it is one of my faves.Taken from Big Flat campsite, it shows the sun rising over Unaka on the AT. You can also see Roan and Temple Hill, Beauty Spot, No Business and Roan in the background.
