I searched with few results on the SealLine packs. I am looking for a pack for canoeing / portaging, and these packs seemed ideal:

Has anyone had experience with them, or know of any major flaws in the packs?

Thanks.

I've not used their portage pack, but have a dry bag from them and have had no problems. I would be concerned with the longevity of the pvc coating over the long term considering the "drag it on the rocks and set it in the sand on the bottom of the canoe" treatment that portage packs often get.

I like the leather and canvas of my Duluth Pack, here's a note on why (http://duluthpack.com/why-canvas). It's real old school and will be passed down to the next generation. A liner keeps it just as dry as a sealine, in the same way that a liner is better than a cover in a backpack.

Frost River is a newer competitor with waxed canvas. Also old school and bomber.

Granite Gear has some pretty sweet new school nylon portage packs, but UV exposure and abrasion may limit their lifespan.

One last thing, Tumplines rule for heavy loads. Ask any sherpa.

I didn't realize how inexpensive the sealine packs were. If you can get a deal and it gets you out there sooner or more often, I'd go for it.

Love my Duluth pack, but I also love a deal.

Thanks for the links, I will check them out for sure. Yeah that's why the SealLine pack attracted me, since its fairly cheap.
