A) 75 52'30" to B) 75 37'30" = 15'
[ C) 1' being 1.2 miles ]

[ D)map scale 1 1/4" equals 1 mile]

16 11/16" between boints A and B

Based on C miles should be 18
Based off of D mileage is 13 miles and change

using a USGS TOPO MAP 50,000

where am i going wrong ????

C is wrong, that is about right for latitude, or longitude at the equator, but this far north of the equator it is more like .82 miles per minute of longitude, which works out to 12.3 miles for 15'.

So if 1min of degree is .82 miles then 1'= 4329.6 feet

4329.6 divide 60 (to determine sec) would be 72.16 feet on 1"

lou19604, Using the Turkey Hill Minit Market on St. Lawrence Ave in Reading as one of the points, I get the distance of 15'=13.201 miles, so The Tank's guesstimate is a good one. I would use the FizzyCalc downloadable calculator (http://www.fizzymagic.net/Geocaching/FizzyCalc/)that can handle coordinate conversions, distance, projections, and several other function with great accuracy for your calculations.
