Does anyone have a Gregory backpack that they have bought in recent years or have the Z65?

I have had my Z65 a little over a year and only had it out 8-10 nights and already noticed some stitching on the shoulder straps coming out.

Does this sound like unusual wear or am I just being paranoid with a 10 day section hike one month away?

I have a z55, had around 3yrs with lots of time on it. Had no problems. I actually use it for my training hikes. I hike with an osprey exos.

I love the pack, but I'm a little concerned about a shoulder strap falling apart during 110 mile section hike. Fortunately I bought it from REI, but I want to hear what others have to say about it. I love the weight and capacity @ 3lbs 14oz 3975 cu in.

They are great packs. There are others that are lighter, however the z55 fits me well and is as comfortable as any I've had, with the exception of the exos. ;)

sharky i'd go into rei and explain it to them, and ask what they recommend you do. make sure you get that person's name and stuff. a manager would be better. that way if it fails while you're out there, it's on them...

If it fails while I'm out there I'm up **** creek without a paddle wondering why I don't have a paddle in the middle of **** creek.

I have a Z55 with 40 days on it and the hip belt buckles will not stay tight, they slip after the first 150 ft and continue to slip - they are madding, requiring constant attention. I even resorted to tying the ends together to stop the slippage. I love the rest of the pack, I just have not gotten back to Gregory on this to see if they can do anything about it.

I've had mine a bit more than a year, and have put about 200 miles on it with 30-35 pound loads. No problems as far as I can see. I'd have REI take a look at it.

They said it was returnable so I tried on the new updated version of the Z65 and it didn't fit even when adjusted to a smaller hip belt. I nearly walked out with the Osprey Atmos 65, but I had to think about it. I need something that can carry 30-32lbs without straining. I usually carry 28-30lbs-ish.
