MST hike this weekend. Several sections along parkway that were supposed to be finished (we've done some trail work weekends) that we completely lost trail.

Anyone know if the guidebooks are pretty accurate?

"The Thru-Hiker's Manual for the Mountains-to-Sea Trail of North Carolina" is the most up-to-date guidebook and is accurate to the hudredth of a mile. However if there were any new sections designated, blazed and connected since 2009, those new sections may not be in the book. I do plan to keep this guidebook current and as up-to-date as possible. I will hike the new sections and update the Manual accordingly.

I spent 2010 working another another book and trail. I just finished "The Thru-Hiker's Manual for the Sheltowee Trace - Kentucky's Long Trail." The format I used for the MST book is the same for the Trace. They include every resource whether in the woods or in town with a quick reference column and a complete business directory. The MST Manual is 100 pages and 920 miles. The Trace Manual is 56 pages and 280 miles.

These Manuals were written as I thru-hiked each trail. So far I have thru'd the MST 3 times in 2 years and the Trace one time. I put in a lot of effort to make sure I provide accurate and useful information into these Manuals. My goal is to help make the trail experience for hikers less stressful and speed up the planning and navigation process.
