About a year ago, I bought some Nido, used a bit, then forgot about it until now. It has been in it's original container in my pantry, which can get pretty hot in the summer. Any chance it's still good? If it's bad would I be able to tell by the smell? I assume that because of the fat in it, it doesn't last as long as dry skim milk does.

If I do end up buying a new container, is it best to store the opened container in the freezer?

If it is a single lump rather than a powder, I would discard it. Also trash it if there is off- odor or mold growth. If you get this far, mix some with water to check odor and then flavor; I, personally, would use it if it tastes and smells OK.

Yes, storage in the freezer would give longest shelflife... gotta be careful when you take it out to use: avoid moisture condensing inside.

I had some that wasn't good. It smelled funny and was stuck together.
