Anyone have any suggestions for a good place to buy hiking boots somewhere around Knoxville, TN? My husband definitely needs a new pair; I may get some if I can find a pair that will fit. (I often end up in children's - women's size 5.)

We'll likely check at Bass Pro Shop at exit 407, and possibly Gander Mountain. Don't really know where else might have them; I've never bought a pair. I wear Asics.

Also never had much luck shopping for shoes online. Have to try them on.

Thanks,

Locally our Gander Mountain has a better selection than Bass Pro, Knoxville may be different.

I got a pair at Blue Ridge Mountain Outfitters on Kingston Pike near Papermill. They really took time to make sure the boots fit. In the same area is River Sports Outfitters on Sutherland Avenue. They have a good selection of boots and gear. I haven't tried the new place, Uncle Lem's on Kingston Pike near Pellissippi Parkway. Also Little River Outfitters in Maryville.

I have not had good luck with the Gander Mountain at Turkey Creek.

Blue Ridge on Kingston.
Mast on Gay Street.
Bass Pro in Sevierville
Mahonney's in Johnson City
The New Balance store around West Towne might have a stock of their line of boots.
REI in Nashville/Asheville

I'm surprised that this wasn't already mentioned:
Elliott's Boots and Shoes
3903 Western Ave
Knoxville, TN 37921 Phone: 865-523-7463
I bought my Asolo 520's there a few years back. They have a good selection of quality footwear for hiking. Also SmartWool, Wigwam.... socks.
really nice and friendly folks... Give 'em a call or just drop in...

River Sports Sutherland Ave. They usually have a 20% off coupon in the school coupon book. The new one should be out the middle of the month.

Bought a pair of Vasque Breezes for me at e.t.o (across Sutherland from River Sports). They were having a Labor Day sale. Turns out the Breezes are sized a little small - I ended up in a women's size 6.

Saw some Asolos on sale at Elliott's. Don't remember the model, but they were a midboot regularly priced $200 on sale for about $110 or so. My husband was concerned that they wouldn't be breathable enough though. He ended up ordering some Vasque Breezes from Amazon.

Didn't really find much at the other stores. Blue Ridge Mountain Sports didn't even have anything in a women's 6, much less smaller. River Sports had a pair of clearance Timberland's that my husband considered, but ended up passing on. Gander Mountain had some Vasque Breeze low boots, but he wanted a midboot. Uncle Lem's had a very limited selection of boots.
