I found an old 2-cup Al measuring cup and fashioned a foil lid for it. But unfort my Super Cat stove flame pattern is too wide for it to boil efficently. The bottom is only 3" diameter. Anyone have an idea of what kind of Alchohol stove I should use. Links to instructions or premade supplier would be appreciated.

for the Heiny can pot (also a small diameter pot) I used a tea light candle tin plus a hardware cloth pot support

My solo cup is about the same size; I have had better luck with a center- burner. HOI's tealite tin is easy and very lightweight.

I dig Zelph's Fancee Feest stove. Slightly more complicated to make than the supercat (not much though), but works so much better.

Try a small V8 juice can, too.

Pepsi can stove? Should be small enough.

Same diameter as a Supercat.

Larger diameter than a Supercat.

I second this or the tealight tin. I think SGT Rock used to have some DIY instructions on his site for a couple V-8 stove designs.

Use esbit on a tri-wing titanium tab holder. This setup works great for my snow peak 600 cup/pot which is probably the same diameter as your pot. :)

These stoves are one piece and will work well with your cup/pot. From premade supplier. The StarLyte and Fancee Feest came to life here on Whiteblaze. Both stoves are easy DIY stoves. click on zelphs-stoveworks in my signature line to see what the stoves look like.

Zelph, What are the diameter of those? Is the Venom smaller than a regular 12oz soda can?

It's larger. 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Nice and stable.

Use any stove that isn't a side burner, but you'll have to carry a pot support for that little cup, and my experience building al stoves is that the top of the stove needs to be about 1-1/2 inch from the bottom of the pot or the fuel combusts up the side of the container and doesn't burn cleanly.

Esbit is a better idea than alcohol for a small dia. pot or cup. The flame is concentrated and constant.

You'll want the Starlyte for that cup. It'll do the job nicely.

Here's a variation of what I use, the Zen Chimney stove. Works great with my 600ml Snow Peak mug which looks close in size to the cup you have.

Well I looked in my desk drawer and found a wedding mint tin. Is it as simple as just popping out the clear plastic, and some fiberglass insulation and making a wire stand to do a Starlyte type clone?

Good place to start. Give it a try.

Looks like a Haystack or an Algonquin alcohol stove would do. I have the Algonquion and it works great with a mug like yours. Both are on Ebay for not very much. Look under Alcohol stoves. Hope that helps!

That's where I got the idea.

Try one of those and let us know how they work out for you. Two Tents says it works great with a mug like your.

Have fun:)

A tealight with this type of pot holder works. It made out of the top of a Heineken can and a 1/4" hole puncher, or in the same album there is a folding triangular SS wire small pot support you could use.

If you want to put a little time into it, you could make a featherfire clone or a mini featherfire clone.

This is the bigger clone. The smaller is made out of the Monster Nitrous cans, same top but smaller diameter.

I like esbit better than alcohol. I started with alcohol, switched to esbit in the shenandoahs, and used it ever since. I can get 24+ burns off of 6 oz of esbit tabs.
