i don't even know if i have his name right - he comes online every once in a while and offers free pop-can stoves to hikers who can't make their own. back in spring 2003 he sent me one (my attempts at making my own stove were kind of pathetic). i promised to send him a donation, but i'm a lame loser and forgot. well, i just found the box he mailed it to me in and i want to correct my mistake. the address is for the Twin Oaks Community in Louisa, VA. is the guy still around and is he still at Twin oaks?

You can probably find an address at his website. It's www.antigravitygear.com

no, no, not Tin Man. i really don't think they're the same person. The guy i'm looking for wasn't in business, he just sent the stoves out for free and asked for a donation if you could afford it. he wasn't online very often. He lived in this "intentional community":

i'm just hoping that somebody here knows of him, knows his name and whether or not he is still with this community/commune.

Tarbubble -- I think this is who you're looking for. There's an email address in this thread that may be worth a shot.

Hope that helps!

The Tin Can Stove Man and the Tin Man are the same person. At least I think they are. I got a stove from Tin Can Stove Man too, He sent it to me for free and asked for a donation, since this is how he makes his income. IF you want to know for sure, just email the Tin Man on his website. I believe he got the trail name when he thruhiked in '83, and I thought it just naturally got shortened to Tin Man. Of course, I can always be wrong.

I'm a friend of Georges aka Tinman and this isn't who the guy is referring to plus he doesn't live in any sort of community like that or even that state.

Or you can be really nice to LilRedMG, she makes excellent stoves and I am proud to say she gave me one. Works like a charm and is my favorite piece of equipment.
