This China made product that claims is water resistant produced less light than other well known units and should be avoided as the batteries are more expensive than the unit. I am modifying this to accept rechargable AAA's to compensate.

The good thing about cheap stuff is your not out big bucks if it fails to please.

Good idea not to throw good batteries after a bad headlamp.
Have fun jigging with it. That's always a fun thing to do.
You will get your money's worth with that alone. :)

If they happen to be CR123 batteries, which are usually pretty expensive, I've used these in my Steripen and they hold up just fine.

at 92 cents each the CR123A dosen't seem too expensive.

Those look good. I need to get some of those.

I just switched my flashlight, MP3, and Camera batteries to Enloops and love them so far.

I buy these from a dollar each to two each and usually resell them for three, they are very cheaply made.......

Well here is my fix I went to Radio Shack and got a AAA holder that has a cover, and soldered the wires onto the CR batteries tabs, stuck the batteries in and used electrical tape to hold it together, increasing the brightness and adding hours, should be around 30 hours so..
$3 for the head lamp
$3 for the battery holder.

Here is the result
