My wife and I started to put on Tea Tree Oil tonight (to prevent blisters) and we both had to smile. Smelling like a hiker again we both thought. Anyone run into situations like this?

Yeah, but I didn't smile at the smell.

I heard soaking your feet in tea is suppose to make em feet blister resistant.

It smells like 5 days of unwashed human and skunk... only you need to buy it - because it's in season, like doe urine......

i just gotta say, the smell of tea tree oil reminds me of hair salons or massage places...

the smell of hiking is a salt caked, sweat ridden shirt and pants that youve been wearing longer than you can remember

After the section hike this last July, I hung my pack up in the garage. Everytime I'd walk past for a couple of weeks, I'd smell the "funk" of the hike. Made me want to pack and go again.

If I have to put powdered milk in Lipton black tea it reminds me of hiking. Same thing w/instant coffee & coffeemate creamer.

Other hiking food I avoid at all costs.

The smell of a hiker to me is a combination of underarm BO, funk midway between head and feet and feet smell. Being clean was something I really was happy to have again when I finished the trail. It bums me out that my gear still stinks.

For me it's the smell of a distant campfire. That always brings my mind right back to the trail.

DEET. When I smell DEET it's like hearing a wind chime softly chiming off in the distance, luring me back to a magical place where a soft creek ripples its way over moss-covered rocks, while painted fawns graze carelessly and butterflies alight on their curious noses.

I'd like to have what Jonnycat is having, please. ;)

Does BO repel bears?

some i've encountered could use their BO as an actual weapon against attacking bears.
