Has anybody been to Woods Hole recently (September 2010). Is there water?

1.5" rain in the last two days in Hiawassee.
not meant to be a smart a** question but
why do people assum that just because it has rained that the springs are flowing?
Too many times have I run across a spring after a rain that is dry.

Springs are underground sources. It would take a while for that water to run if it does at all. Streams are above ground sources and benefit from a solid rain. But I would think water would flow better as the fall progresses because the vegetation isn't taking it up as in spring and summer.
