Jeffery Douglas "Okeepa" Hager passed from this earth today, may peace be with his soul. 1970-2010.

Okeepa is a long time dear friend of mine and the trail community, whom I met via the trail and he will be surely missed.

Indeed, so young. Kind of a reality check for all of us over 40 (and then some). Be grateful for every day. RIP.

O keepas mother picked me up on my thru hike, and i wrote a story about it. I hope that i had gotten all the details right......this story was published in a collection of stories about the AT from stackpole books
