It is quite easy to make a simmer ring for a Supercat stove. I used a 1" high by 31/8" ring made out of a strip of a Heineken can. I stapled it together and bent a short tab to use as a handle. After reaching a boil, you just drop the ring over the stove. It prevents some air from getting to the stove and allows it to simmer. I just cooked two over medium eggs in an Evernew 1.3 liter pot with some olive oil. They stuck a bit but did not burn. I'll try to get a picture or two up later.

The dimensions, btw, are 1" by 3-1/8". This was just an experiment, and that's just what I started with. I don't plan on doing any more today.

I only set fire to the kitchen curtains once, a few years ago. I experiment outside now, where the results mean more to the backpacking public. ;)

I once tried a pressurized soda can stove in the kitchen sink with 1/2 ounce of methanol (Heet Yellow). The top blew off, bounced off the ceiling and nearly hit the cat when it landed! Took a bit of calming talk and a can of tuna fish to get back in kitty's good graces! :D

Here's the picture of the simmer ring (you can make out the word Heineken on it).
