Are there any established sites between Neels Gap and Low Gap suitable for camping other than the Whitley Gap Shelter, which is over a mile off trail? Maybe at the spring at mm 34.5, or anywhere else? Thanks a bunch, a mile marker would be helpful too if u have a site in mind.

Thanks for the info, but I'm still looking for any sites that may be between the two previously mentioned locations.

It is at mile 33.9 and is (was) beautiful, established fire ring, and several grassy spots with overlook

I don't think it's an established site, but I saw a tent and smoldering fire ring atop Cowrock Mountain. I'm not sure of the milepoint, but it's south of Tesnatee Gap.

Second the selection on Wolf Laurel Top..beautiful area. Also there are some great spots on Wildcat mountain just before the turnoff to the right to Whitley gap shelter. Excellent views looking back to Cowrock.

if you can get water at Hog Pen, then just turn right at the top towards Whitley Gap without going all the way. It is a very pleasant ridge walk with several campsites looking back towards Cowrock.

Cowrock has a decent spot. Nice views. You can get some water at the rock spring on the way up from Neels, depending on the drought conditions.
